New Chief Executive for CancerCare.
CancerCare Chief Executive Maria Chambers is set to to leave the organisation at the end of December to take up a new post with the National Deaf Children’s Society.
Chair of Trustees Andrew Birchall said: “Maria has had a great year with CancerCare and we are enormously grateful for everything she has achieved for the organisation. She has an impressive track record in high profile roles within national charities and has been presented with an exceptional new opportunity.
“However, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Alison Stainthorpe to the position of Chief Executive. Alison is currently Operations Director and Deputy CEO, she has been with CancerCare for nine years and has played a key role in leading the organisation with Maria.
“We are looking forward to supporting Alison as she leads the charity into the future, ensuring that the work we do reaches more people and families affected by cancer and wish both Maria and Alison every success in their new roles.”
Alison (pictured) said: “I would like to pay tribute to the fantastic work Maria has done over the last 15 months which included steering us through the difficulties and uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic. She is leaving us with the groundwork for some exciting plans as we begin to embrace the ‘digital age’ which I am looking forward to developing alongside my own ideas for CancerCare’s future.”
