Gardener says thank you
How about this for an awesome New Year gesture to kick off 2021?!
Morecambe gardener Chris Dickson, aka the Lawn Ranger, has pledged to donate 2.5% of his income for the year to CancerCare.
Chris is a former client of ours who came to us for support after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer seven years ago and he benefitted from the therapies we provide, enormously.
“Right from the word go CancerCare made me feel like I was part of their family. Whether it was a cuppa and a chat to talk about what I was going through or an aromatherapy session to give me a bit of ‘me time’ away from the stresses of life. I used CancerCare throughout the time I had cancer, without it I don't know how I would have dealt with it all.
“Dany my aromatherapist and I struck a wonderful relationship. She took away the stress of living with cancer and I really looked forward to my visit every week to see her and have some treatment.”
Chris underwent major surgery last September leaving him cancer free for the first time in seven years and it prompted him to depart from his career as a head chef and set up his own gardening maintenance business.
Now, he has decided to use his skills with his secateurs to say “thank you” to CancerCare for the support he received.
“I would like to pay back a little to CancerCare after the amazing support they gave me throughout such a difficult period in my life. I thought it would be a good idea to donate monthly so that they have a constant cashflow rather than waiting for the end of the year end.
“It’s a small way to say a huge thank you for everything they do to support not just people living with cancer but their families too. It is a local charity that needs as much funding as possible, to keep helping those families that are at suffering with this horrible illness.”
Cheers Chris, great to hear you are doing so well and wishing you all the best for the year ahead!
