Combatting COVID isolation in a virtual videogame world
Fun in the woods!
What could be better for a kid than a day messing about in the woods, climbing trees and having fun?!
Our youth workers Lou and Chris took the young people from our Re-Fresh Peer Support Group to the Kepplewray Centre near Broughton-in-Furness for a day of adventure and fresh air, last weekend.
The outdoor activities included climbing an 80ft tree, bushcraft and team challenges with everyone rounding off a perfect day by toasting marshmallows on an open campfire (which they lit themselves using flint!).
A fantastic way to round off a difficult year for the group which hasn’t been able to see as much of each other due to COVID.
Next year we’ll be looking to expand the group into our Kendal and Barrow centres so we can help even more young people who have been affected by bereavement or cancer in their families.
If you know of any young person who could use the fun, friendship and support of the Re-Fresh group, call us on 03330 150 628, email: CancerCareCan@cancercare.org.uk or text: 07860 018 278
