on Monday, 30 November -0001.

Over 100 dogs led their owners to Williamson Park on Saturday for an afternoon of tail wagging fun ahead of the 3rd annual ‘Bark in the Park’ event.

Bark in the Park - a sponsored dog walk and fun dog show event – is organised by local cancer support charity CancerCare. This year’s event saw dogs of all shapes and sizes - plus their owners - enjoy an hour long walk through a muddy Williamson Park with everyone receiving a goody bag for their efforts.

Baily and girlsThe Fun Dog show with a difference followed on with prizes and rosettes given out to winners from categories including ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Dog most like their Owner’.  The Dog Show was judged by Mr Peter Archer from Paw-sitive Training and Lyndsey Ferguson from Springy Paws Grooming pictured with this year’s Best in Show Bailey the Dalmatian, alongside proud owners Lucy (aged 8) and sister Sarah Hay(aged 5)

Every penny raised from Bark in the Park will help to support local people affected by cancer in the local community. This year’s event has already raised over £1,000 with sponsorship money still coming in.

CancerCare supports local people whose lives are affected by cancer as well as their families, carers and anyone who has been bereaved by cancer. They offer a wide range of free professional support services delivered by experienced and qualified staff including counselling, hypnotherapy, aromatherapy massage, creative art therapies and exercise classes to name but a few.  The charity also offers a dedicated Children and Young People’s Service for children as young as three.
