StarWalk Charity Event set to return to Kendal

on Tuesday, 13 October 2015.

The 9th annual CancerCare StarWalk will offer participants the chance to run walk or jog either a 5k or 15k route around Kendal town centre on Saturday 9th May to raise vital funds to support the charity’s specialist services in South Lakeland.

One of the only night walk events of its kind in the area, the CancerCare StarWalk welcomes men, women and children to take part together and almost up to 500 entrants are expected to sign up. Entry is now open with a discounted ‘early bird’ pricing offer available until February 15th.

The StarWalk event has raised over half a million pounds for CancerCare to date whose free support services  include professional Counselling and a Children & Young People's Service.

CancerCare has two dedicated centres based in Kendal (The Lakes Centre, Blackhall Road) and in Lancaster (Slynedales, Slyne Road) and also provides outreach services in local hospitals including Westmorland General.

Cancer Care’s StarWalk event organiser Richard Cogger says:

“We’re expecting another great turn out for StarWalk this year.  As well as an important fundraiser for us, the event is also a lovely way for local families to get together to achieve something really positive.”

“Some of our StarWalkers use the event as a way of helping them recover after a serious illness. Others will be walking or running in support of someone they know who has experienced cancer or in memory of a loved one so it makes the atmosphere on the night extra special.”

Online entry for StarWalk 2015 is now available here. Entrants who register before 15th February can take advantage of the Early Bird offer at just £10 per adult and £7 for under 16s.
