Scooterists get on their scooters for CancerCare and other groups

Scooterists made a special 'SOS' (Santas On Scooters) delivery of selection boxes to CancerCare and other groups and organisations in the Lancaster and Morecambe area.

The First Kick Scooter Collective from Morecambe and surrounding areas initially received more than 600 selections boxes for the Children’s Ward at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The members were inundated with selection boxes so they decided to get on their scooters and distribute them to various other people in need.

Adrian Leech from Morecambe, a member of the collective, also filled his car to bursting point and dropped the selection boxes off at CancerCare, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, West End Primary School, homeless shelters, food banks and other locations.

Adrian said: “We’re very grateful to Lancaster City Council, ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Heysham Power Station, Morrisons, The Co-op and people from the community for donating the selection boxes. Morrisons also donated a bag of toys. It’s been a brilliant response.”

Alison Stainthorpe, Head of Operations for CancerCare, said: “We are delighted to be one of the recipients of the selection boxes for our Children and Young Person’s (CYP) service.

“We are very grateful to First Kick Scooter Collective for their support at this time of year.”
