Make your Views Heard!

on Tuesday, 24 March 2015.

CancerCare and the Gateway Partnership group will be  holding a Hustings event on the 9th April in Kendal.

hustingsThe Gateway Partnership - made up of nine local charities including CancerCare -  will be working with their service users in advance of the event to ensure issues that are important to them are heard, and answered, by the local Parliamentary candidates.

This is the first time these charities have been able to use the strength of their partnership for greater local and national influence and they expect to ask Parliamentary Candidates to comment on key issues effecting their service users around health and the provision of local essential services.

The other charities involved in organising this event are: Age UK South Lakeland, Sight Advice South Lakes, South Lakeland Mind, South Lakeland Carers, Alzheimers Society, Citizens Advice Bureau, The Oaklea Trust, and Cumbria CVS.

Four local Candidates have already confirmed their attendance at the event and are looking forward to the opportunity to meet and talk with local people about issues that are important to them.

Neil Townsend, Chief Executive of CancerCare said;

"This is a really exciting opportunity for our clients & volunteers  to get their views heard, especially around local health care services.  I'd like to encourage as many people to get involved as possible! It should be a lively debate."
