Lancaster Rotary Club supports CancerCare

on Monday, 30 November -0001.

On Monday night, fundraising team leader, Jane Staniford was kindly invited to The Holiday Inn, by  The Rotary Club of Lancaster, in order to collect a generous donation of £1,250 on behalf of CancerCare. The money was raised through the club’s annual cycling event, Wrynose or Bust, which challenges cyclists to take on one of three impressive routes through local North Lancashire & South Lakeland.

A team of CancerCareCancercareCheque supporters, comprising of staff and friends of local business, Altham’s Butchers, took on the longest of these three challenges; a 115mile cycle through Wrynose Pass, considered to be one of the top 10 toughest cycling climbs in Britain. James and Rick Altham, accompanied by friends James Buitelaar, Gordon & Barclay Bland have raised an additional £1,610 in sponsorship, taking the total raised by the event to £2,860 for CancerCare.

We are extremely grateful to the ‘Meat Machine’ team, as they boys decided to call themselves, and also to The Rotary Club of Lancaster, whose continued support of CancerCare is so greatly appreciated. The funds raised from the Wrynose or Bust event will help us in our ongoing work providing free of charge support services to local people affected by cancer and other-life-limiting conditions.
