Celebrating 30 years of CancerCare

on Monday, 30 November -0001.

Local woman Christina Conner is dusting down her ball gown ahead of our Diamonds & Pearls Spring Ball event on Friday 11th April. She will be joining our guests at the Midland Hotel in Morecambe for a night of celebrations to mark CancerCare's 30th anniversary.

Christina says,

Christina Conner David2

“I’d never heard of CancerCare until a friend with breast cancer told me about them. And when my husband was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus we agreed to give them a call. CancerCare offered us so much support including hypnotherapy, massage, and Alexander Technique sessions. David really enjoyed his treatments which made feel relaxed. It was great being able to just talk to the people who work there – they are all so friendly.”

CancerCare supports local people whose lives are affected by cancer as well as their families, carers and anyone who has been bereaved by cancer. They offer a wide range of free professional support services delivered by experienced and qualified staff including counselling, hypnotherapy, aromatherapy massage, creative art therapies and exercise classes to name but a few.  The charity also offers a dedicated Children and Young People’s Service for children as young as three.

“After David sadly died last year, I really wanted to give something back to CancerCare by way of saying thanks. I thought it would be a nice way to remember David by supporting their first ever Diamond & Pearls Spring Ball - I love a bit of glitz and glamour!”

The Spring Ball guests will enjoy a champagne reception followed by a sumptuous three course dinner with music provided by local soul band The Groove Cutters and a very special live auction.

Christina has decided to sponsor the table decorations at the event and is planning to take her neighbour Clare along with her.

“We are both very excited. I am planning to wear a lovely midnight blue number at the Ball. It’s going to be a great night with some fabulous auction prizes up for grabs. Hopefully the event will raise lots of money for CancerCare so they can continue to provide their services in the community and help more people, like they did for me and David.”

There are only a few remaining tickets for the Diamonds & Pearls Ball. To book call CancerCare’s Fundraising Department on 01524 381 820.
