Almost 500 local people headed to Leighton Hall on Wednesday 4th December in search of the perfect Christmas gift ahead of CancerCare’s Annual Christmas Craft Fair.

Set in the stunning Leighton Hall, Craft Fair visitors had the opportunity to browse a fabulous selection of local handmade crafts and enjoy a carol singing performance from Carnforth Choral Society. Free hot mince pies and refreshments were served by CancerCare’s team of hardworking volunteers.

Event organiser Helen Hartin said:

“This is the 6th year the event has taken place and it’s always well supported by the local community. We are so grateful to Mrs Reynolds for welcoming us into her prestigious home at Leighton Hall and hosting our event. It really is an honour. We’ve had so many people donating items to sell including jams, chutneys, holly wreaths and gorgeous knitwear. All our volunteers and stallholders have worked so hard to make the event a success. I can’t thank them enough.”

All the proceeds from the Christmas Craft Fair will help to fund the vital work of CancerCare which supports local people whose lives are affected by cancer, their families and carers and those bereaved by cancer. CancerCare offers wide range of free professional support services including counselling, hypnotherapy, aromatherapy massage, creative art therapies and exercise classes to name but a few.  The charity also offers a dedicated Children and Young People’s Service for children as young as three.photo 2

One of our stall holders Val Cope said:

“I used to attend the Jewellery group at CancerCare as a client but now I am making and selling my own creations! It’s wonderful being able to showcase my work at events like this and it’s even better knowing I am helping to give something back to CancerCare – the support they have given me over the years has been amazing.”
