Wheels Around The World

We are inviting you to join us for a brand new “virtual” cycling event which will help you kick off spring 2021 in the fantastic fresh air and raising vital funds for local people devastated by a cancer diagnosis or bereavement!

Wheels Around the World will help you push boundaries, test endurance and achieve personal goal sand, what is more, we’ll be with you every step of the way! Collectively we are aiming to Wheel Around the World in 25 days, covering the ”virtual” distance around the Equator – a grand total of nearly 25,000 miles!

We want you to help us do it by cycling, scootering, skating, pushing a pram – basically using anything with wheels but no power (indoor exercise bike is fine) - and we’ll deduct the miles you cover from the total. How you do it is up to you, whether it’s an exhausting ascent up a mountain road, indoors watching TV or even at the gruelling spinning class that you’ve been missing so much!

On average it costs CancerCare £25,000 a month to provide much-needed therapy at our centres in Lancaster, Morecambe, Kendal and Barrow. So, achieving our total will enable us to benefit the live sof hundreds of people whose lives have been made even tougher during the pandemic.

We would love you to join us and cycle as many miles as you can from the 22nd April to the 17th May. These miles will go towards our official “wheelometer” totaliser and you can help us count the miles down on a special interactive map and live spreadsheet!

Group sign up is £50 (unlimited number of participants) with a suggested minimum sponsorship of£200, £8 for individual entry or £24 for families (2 adults and up to three children). Once you have signed up you will receive an email with a link to our JustGiving campaign page and private Facebook group.

Around 93% of CancerCare’s work supporting local people affected by cancer or bereavement is funded by people like you who donate, fundraise, or give a gift in their Will. Without your support in raising these vital funds, CancerCare would simply not be here today. We can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support.

If you have any questions or would like to talk about the virtual event in any more detail, please email fundraising@cancercare.org.uk.
