Fundraising Team Coordinator Anna's Blog

The sunshine has arrived and things are definitely hotting up for summer as far as fundraising is concerned! This is always a busy time for the team and this year is no different.

We’ve had some wonderful support over the last few days including a fantastic idea from Chadwicks Plastics of how to keep their CancerCare collection tin filling up, a brilliant Quiz Night raising over £1,000 and the truly remarkable impact of one supporter’s knitting.

Congratulations to our chief executive, Neil Townsend and his partner Alan, for completing the Coniston 2 Barrow Walk and the team from Carus Green Hotel who took on the Keswick 2 Barrow Walk at the weekend!

Thanks also to the brilliant team of staff and volunteers who manned a water station at the event.

It was brilliant to see a wave of CancerCare t-shirts and hoodies on the photos!

We will soon be applying to the event organisers for some funding for our work in the Barrow area and the support that #TeamCancerCare have shown to the event this year will hopefully mean the funders will look favourably on our application.

The Fundraising Team are looking forward to the K2B and C2B walks becoming a regular feature in the CancerCare calendar - In fact, one member of staff has already started training for next year.

The weekend before last also saw our Bark in the Park event descend on Williamson’s Park once more.

A plethora of pretty pooches (and their equally lovely owners) joined us for a day of fun; including our sponsored dog walk and fun dog show. The event has raised just over £500 so far and you can see plenty of pictures from the day on our Facebook page.

Our very own Georgie Whittle held a successful book sale in St Nic’s Arcade, Lancaster, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday.

On Sunday, CancerCare supporter Sally Scott did some fundraising of her own by taking on a Half-Marathon at The Great Manchester Run. Well done Sally!

Plus, the Summer Bumper Draw Tickets have arrived, offering our supporters a chance to win big whilst also helping local families affected by cancer or other life limiting conditions!

The tickets are available from each of our three centres and also from the Fundraising Team Office. Please do help the Bumper Draw to raise a Bumper amount for CancerCare by encouraging friends and family to purchase a ticket, or even better, asking them to sell them to their own networks!

Thanks again for all your fabulous support – long may the sun shine (and the great fundraising) continue! Please see below for more info on events and fundraising.

Kindest regards,

Anna Webster, Fundraising Team Coordinator
