Our Wonderful Volunteer Drivers!

on Friday, 12 June 2015.

 Meet Bob and Terry!

Bob and Terry are both volunteer drivers for CancerCare. We have around 30 volunteer drivers to escort clients too and from our centres. Without them we would not be able to provide support to people who are too poorly to either drive or walk to their appointments.

Bob Baines from Howgarth in Kendal retired in 2011 and previously ran his own business “Lakeland First Aid.” Bob first approached CancerCare to volunteer because he wanted to give something back to the community and help others. As well as providing transport for clients too and from our Lakes Centre in Kendal, Bob has recently trained 12 of CancerCare's staff and volunteers in emergency first aid.

Terry Parsons from Lancaster has volunteered for CancerCare since retiring from teaching. Terry says “I enjoyed my teaching career but working as a volunteer at CancerCare is amazing”. As well as providing transport for clients, Terry also attends local events delivering information about CancerCare and the services we provide.
