Good morning everyone! Today I will be out of the office at the 3RD Annual Cancer Conference, supported by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. I am looking forward to what looks like a thought provoking agenda.

The activities across the organisation in the lead up to the festive season kick of this weekend with the Christmas Lights Switch on in Lancaster and our Santa Dash event!I'm looking forward to seeing all the Santa's running through the city centre streets showing their support for CancerCare!

20091115 santadash 0765This Saturday our friends at the Ambleside Drop-In, led by the powerhouse that is Joan Newby are holding their annual Christmas Fair. If past events are anything to go buy this will be a great event in the town. Thank you to all involved and  for supporting.

Bowerham Drop InI also had the pleasure of visiting the Bowerham Drop in Lancaster on Tuesday with Andrea. I was made very welcome by this long established group, as you can see from the photograph! Good company, plenty of tea and biscuits and the customary natter and raffle made for a very pleasant morning.

Having visited all the valuable drop-in’s you can really see the value they bring to different local communities. I am glad that we can continue to support and help where we can.

I was saddened to hear that Mary Cross - one of CancerCare’s original supporters-  had died in October. Mary and her husband were both heavily involved and influential in the early days and development of the charity. I had met Mary at our summer Leighton hall event. This week we received a generous  donation from the funeral collection. She was known to a great number of past trustees, volunteers and staff.
