Good Morning from Lancaster, at the end of another week and, a very special one, but more of that later!

MummysStarlogoOn Tuesday, I met up with Pete Wroth who is the CEO of a charity called Mummy’s Star, based in Manchester, but working across the UK and Ireland, supporting pregnancy, through cancer and beyond. Pete took part in our Cross Bay half marathon earlier this year and is an avid runner. Our conversation was really useful with clear opportunities for us to signpost any client who they may be able to support and vice versa.

Grange over Sands was the destination for me on Wednesday, where I had been invited to speak to members of the Rotary Club. It was a packed room, with a warm and deeply appreciative audience. Increasingly, staffs from all corners of CancerCare are out and about talking with passion about what we do. Thank you!

SuewithNeilAnd so…the 4th November has arrived! A special date for a very special friend and colleague, Sue Tyson, who as we all know, retires today after an incredible 25 years’ service to CancerCare. It is incredibly difficult to sum up just what a contribution Sue has made to so many people in that time. You will have and treasure you own memories of days spent together.

One thing is certain, in that whatever role Sue has taken on, she has done it with humility, attention to detail and with a smile and enthusiasm that money cannot buy. Today is a day to celebrate with Sue her 25 years and to have a party, and we all appreciate what a party animal Sue is! Thank you seems so inadequate really, but our thank you, warm wishes and love are sincerely offered to you from all of us.

After tonight’s party, I will be joining Joan Newby (our Ambleside party animal) tomorrow afternoon, and the rest of the Ambleside Drop in Group, friends and supporters as they celebrate 25 Years of amazing work. Congratulations.

Enjoy your weekend. Neil.
