Good Morning, it’s been another super busy week across CancerCare and for me, the usual routine of catch up we all go through just before going on holiday, as I do on Sunday.

RobertI must mention our fabulous retiring Chairman Robert Webb who donned his Spiderman costume (such a sport) and led a team of abseilers down Ashton Memorial last Sunday. It was a memorable afternoon for all of us present. Thank you Robert and your lovely wife Caroline for organising this. Congratulations as well to staff members, Helen, Christine and Tracey for doing it and to volunteers Sue Andrews and Michelle  Bowman for giving it a go!

My week started off in Kendal, with a meeting of the Kendal Gateway Partnership, to sign up to their new constitution which will hopefully mean a renewed energy for our charity partnership. It was also great to receive some feedback from Aromatherapist Susannah Cogger from the Oncology Nurses and the Westmorland General who praised our promotional stand taken to the recent County Show and was really well attended on the day.

It feels like AGM season and preparations for our own event scheduled for 3rd October at Slynedales are complete. I  have attended two AGM’s this week, both of which were interesting and relevant to our work. The first was with North Lancashire CCG, outlining some major challenges they face in the future but reassuringly stressing the important role the charity and third sector play in the local health economy. The second was the AGM of the University Hospitals of Morecambe  Bay NHS Trust, held in Lancaster Town Hall. This was a great day with a chance for us to showcase our services and network with a number of key partners. Here's Tracey and Pam from our Therapy Coordination team with the Mayor of Lancaster beside our stall.
