Good Morning. Friday is here again and to me, it feels more like autumn than summer. However, the recent windy and challenging conditions did not deter the 500 walkers, runners and bike riders at our Cross Bay Challenge event last Sunday!

A massive congratulations to everyone who took part. The feedback from the event and the amazing pictures and video coverage are simply excellent. A big shout out to every single volunteer and staff member who braved an early start and helped out. We could not have done this without you. Thank you, sincerely.

On Tuesday, I attended the Kendal Gateway Steering Group, which is set to become a board of trustees once the Gateway is registered as a charity in its own right. We are continuing to support this important collaboration of charities working across South Lakeland.

On Wednesday, I took a long overdue visit to the Oncology Unit in Lancaster, to have a catch up and useful discussion with Pauline Robinson, the Lead Cancer Nurse, and a great CancerCare supporter.  It was good to see all our service leaflets and information prominently displayed in the unit.

sueparsonageThis week  I was also pleased to welcome Susan Parsonage, the new Chief Executive of Lancaster City Council to Slynedales. She was really engaging and interested in our work, our history and the key part we play within a buoyant third sector in the city. I was particularly pleased that she wants to take up my offer to brief and engage with key managers in the Council about what we do and how we can support employees.

It was good news from the SOS Support Group who have successfully obtained some funding which will help fund and sustain the provision of our Hydrotherapy service at the 3-1-5 pool in Lancaster. Good effort , and thank you to Ian and all the members for this support.

Have a good weekend. Neil.
