Good Morning from Lancaster today. What a week! I think we are  all still beaming from the launch of yesterday's Lancaster Guardian 'CancerCare Counts' campaign!

CancerCareCountsHere's a few of the team reading this week's edition with CancerCare client Andy Edwards on the front page! The campaign will be officially launched this evening at the Guardian's annual Sunshine Ball event in Morecambe which I'm very excited to be attending with Trustee Andrew Birchall.

On Monday I had a really vibrant meeting with a GP called Andy Knox ( Carnforth). I met Andy a couple of weeks ago at a Better Care Together event in Lancaster. He really is challenging his NHS colleagues and commissioners to “think outside the box” and is a great supporter of the vital work that the third sector does in the community. A useful session and some follow up’s that will be progressed without any doubt.

On Wednesday I was in Kendal all day with a great meeting of the Cancer Patients Group in the morning then back for a really useful catch up with Mary Holland, one of our Kendal based Trustees.

dyingmattersThis week has also been national Dying Matters week and on Thursday Tracey and I, along with Gary Rycroft another one of our Trustees took part in a 'Death Cafe'  at the Storey in Lancaster. It was not as gloomy as it sounds but was a very engaging debate ( with tea and cake) with members of the public about the subject of death and dying. The conversations were humorous, candid and enlightening.

And to round off a busy week later today we have our contract monitoring meeting with North Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group.

Hope you all have a great weekend,
