Good Morning. How this week as flown! Maybe the mid-week trip I made to London is the main reason for this...

I was delighted along with Christine to be the guests of our two colleagues from Lakeland (Lesley Metcalfe & Yvonne Nelson) as we took our places at the 2016 Third Sector Business Charity Awards. Although we did not win, to be shortlisted amongst such formidable competition was a fantastic tribute to the enduring and special 25 year relationship between CancerCare & Lakeland. Long may this continue, the value that is derived from our corporate and business partners is vital to our financial stability.

This week I have also been conducting appraisals this week and I hope that my team are getting as much from them as me. I also spent some time with our newest recruit David Haworth, who joins us in a pivotal role as our Quality and Information Officer. He is clearly on the starting blocks and raring to go! Welcome David and best of luck!

Last week I was unable to go along to the Bay Prostate Cancer Support Group meeting  but Therapist Samreen  popped in to receive a very welcome donation from the group. Thank you - the work you do and how you support each other and CamcerCare  is amazing!

The spring like weather makes me turn my attention to a number of important events, that are fast approaching:StarWalk logo 011

This year as you will hopefully be aware, we are celebrating 10 years of our StarWalk event in Kendal. We would like as many of you as possible to come and join us on the red carpet at our StarWalk 10 Year Anniversary Reunion Party on 21st May 2016! *With LIVE music from S Club's Jo & Bradley!* (who could resist?)

The fun starts at Kendal Leisure Centre from 8pm with a special party planned for the finish line! You can sign up here or pick up a registration form from reception.

Joined by CancerCare's Richard Cogger and Fiona Weir, the Mayor of Lancaster Tom and few more of his friends will be flying high through the trees at speed and you could join them too! Anyone can take part in the challenge for just £10 with all proceeds donated to CancerCare, just turn up on the day between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.  If that’s not your thing, you can always show your support for them all by going to Toms Zip Wire Challenge sponsorship page at and make a donation.

The income we need to generate from such events has never been greater, so please do what you can to support and spread the word!

Neil :)
