"I've got a new spring in my step!"

on Monday, 23 March 2015.

haroldgardnerToday I had the pleasure of meeting 64 year old Harold 'H' Gardner.

H lives in  Great Urswick has been coming to our Lakes Centre in Kendal for weekly Indian Head Massages and more recently, has joined our new Monday morning Alexander Technique (AT) Group. Harold is recovering from prostate & bladder cancer and was first told about CancerCare’s free services by his Benefits Advisor at the Citizen’s Advice Bureaux in Windermere.

H says;

“The head massages are so relaxing and really help me manage my pain.  I’m really enjoying the group AT sessions too. I am a real ‘people person’ so being with others in the group is brilliant and I love chatting away to everyone."

“I’m learning new techniques that help me move around much easier . I feel so much calmer and I’m learning to slow down more.”

“I’ve only been coming for 4 weeks but I already notice some differences. For example, I can now get up from the floor by myself without help. After last week’s group I definitely had a new spring in my step!”

“Everyone at CancerCare is genuinely caring and so friendly. I’m glad I decided to come.”

I'm looking forward to catching up with Harold at the end of his 12 week programme  to see how he's getting on!

CancerCare's Alexander Technique Group Programme is open to anyone who has been affected by cancer or a life limiting condition. We also offer AT on a  1-2-1 basis.
