Anna's Fundraising update

Hello everyone! Hope you are enjoying the wonderful sunshine we are having!

The warm weather is getting us in the mood for Georgie Whittle’s Caribbean Night next month as part of her Cambodia Trek fundraising.

Tickets are still available and Georgie is also looking for raffle prizes for the event on 21st July; prizes can be Caribbean-themed, but anything colourful or summery will be gratefully received!

Here’s hoping the sun stays shining for our Piel Island Walk (see photo at start of blog)) on the 22nd July! This is a new event for us and one we are really looking forward to.

You may have spotted our banners out and about or our volunteers and staff promoting the walk at last week’s Barrow Carnival. We are due to publicise it in the Barrow Tesco store too. Limited places are still available

However, we’re not in July yet, and there is plenty happening before the month is out…

Supporter, Alicia Price, is skydiving today (Thursday) and has already raised over £150! Another skydiver, Emma Walmsley, handed in their sponsorship this week from their jump in Spring – a brilliant £581.25.

We are still recruiting challengers for our big ‘Jump for CancerCare’ day in September so if you’ve ever fancied the thrill of a skydive, speak to the Fundraising Team!

As it’s the last Friday of the month, we’ll be hosting our monthly coffee mornings at Slynedales & the Lakes Centre… Join us between 10am-12noon for a cuppa and some guilt-free cake! (Barrow supporters, don’t worry, we’re organising a special ‘Catch Up & Chat’ at our Trinity Centre next month – see the attached update for the date!)

Then, this weekend, fundraising superstar Rory Wood will be taking on Bad Ass Mucker – Good Luck Rory!

It’s been a scorcher of a week for donations too; including gifts of thanks from clients who have received CancerCare’s help, proceeds from cakes sales organised by some very special young people, and the latest fundraising efforts from our friends at Maya Maya in Kendal.

If you’ve been into the Fisher Block at Slynedales this week, you will have noticed that some of the rooms have had a lick of paint, thanks to the band of lovely volunteers (see above) from Marks & Spencer, Lancaster, who visited us last week.

They surprised us all by turning up with a further donation of £747.05 which has been raised by staff in store. Please do take a look at the attached update for the full list of brilliant support we’ve had this week and news of some of the other projects we are working on.

As ever, thanks for all your feedback and encouragement. It’s great to share with you all the fantastic things happening at the moment! We can hardly fit it all into our updates!

Kindest regards,

Anna Webster, Fundraising Team Coordinator
