Chief Executive Neil's Weekly Blog

Good Morning, it’s hard to believe that we have almost reached the end of 2017.

I have spent the week like all of us, I expect, catching up with a number of year end tasks, compiling a list of things to do in 2018 and, in doing so, reflecting on the year that has just gone.

The Senior Management Team(SMT), will be sharing with all of the organisation some very interesting facts about CancerCare and it successes, challenges and our aspirations for the future early in the New Year. We have much to be proud of and, as always, more to do.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one involved in CancerCare for your support, hard work and commitment to ensure that our common aim of providing the very best type of support to people who need it most is achieved.

You have done this with energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and, most of all, by working as a team. I often use the phrase 'the CancerCare family' and that is what I see; a family be it staff, our wonderful volunteers and many of our supporters who help us to do what we do.

I have made a donation to our own Christmas appeal this year as my Christmas card to you all. Thank you and however you are spending your Christmas have a wonderful time.

We are open next week on Wednesday (December 27th), Thursday (December 28th) and Friday (December 29th) and our coffee morning will be welcoming people at Slynedales on Friday (December 29th). Thank you to those staff and volunteers who will be working.

We have a number of birthdays this month, Sandra Dacre (13th Dec), Mike McNabb (14th Dec), David James (23rd Dec) and my own, of course, on the 25th of December. Best wishes to all of you.

Blogging will resume on Friday 12th January 2018.

Like all of you, I suspect, Alan and I are looking forward to time with family and friends, as well as some down time to relax.

Very best Christmas wishes.

Neil Townsend, Chief Executive
