Maria has worked for the majority of her career for national charities serving people with life-limiting conditions and complex needs. Maria qualified as a teacher through UCLAN, and went on to study significant and complex needs at the school of psychology at The University of St Andrews.
During the last 15 years she has been Director of Children and Young People’s services for Scope and more recently the Director of Education for Ambitious about Autism. Throughout her career she has been driven to deliver high quality services developed in partnership with people and their families.
Maria serves on the Board of Governors of the Chadwick Centre and has recently become a trustee of Lancaster and Morecambe Citizens Advice Bureau. Like many at CancerCare, Maria’s family have been affected by cancer and family members have in the past used our services.
