Murder mystery held in CancerCare headquarters

Diners attempted to solve a mind-bending murder mystery at CancerCare’s atmospheric Slynedales centre in Lancaster.

The cast and competition winners with their trophy

The former Victorian gentleman’s residence on Slyne Road was transformed into a dining room where guests watched actors in a Whodunnit-style show with a complex plot.

More than £1,000 was raised thanks to CancerCare supporters Patsie Bagot and Wendy Lyth who organised the sold-out event on Friday, January 25.

Clues were given throughout the evening and a full meal was prepared and served by volunteers. A team named ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’ earned the most points and scooped the trophy.

They said everyone was a winner as so much had been raised to help local cancer patients and their families.

Cast members

The cast members were local actors who gave their time in support of the charity.

They were: Scott Alker playing Lord Midwynter/D.I. Barney Bee - Scott Alker, Ceri Hamer playing Lady Midwynter, Neil Townsend as Les Power, Lynne Nolan playing Wyn Power, David Howarth as Felicio Fortunato, Anna Webster as Carrie Point and John Beamer as Justin Law.

Giving out the clues

Anna Webster, Fundraising Team coordinator for CancerCare, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Patsie and Wendy for all their hard work in organising the event in aid of CancerCare.

“Patsie and Wendy put such a lot of time and effort into arranging this superb event which has raised a fantastic amount in support of local families affected by cancer.”
