Anna's Fundraising Update

It's (almost) the most wonderful time of the year...

We’ve another bumper Fundraising Update for you this week – there’s just so much to cram in! There's a huge amount of fundraising activity that’s happening throughout North Lancashire & South Cumbria – there really is something for everyone!

Hello everybody,

Allow us to tell you about some of the wonderful ways our CancerCare supporters have been fundraising recently!

Peter Hayton has been selling homemade honey and this week was able to donate £164.50 from the proceeds– it’s a very ‘sweet’ story!

Our friends at SCS Logistics and the great people at Albion Snooker Club, Kendal, have both organised raffles, raising £146.83 and £150 respectively!

The CancerCare Bridge Tournament celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and the money raised from entry fees this time is £2,375 – meaning, since its inception in 1993, a remarkable £60,000 has been raised in support of local families affected by cancer and other life limiting conditions! Incredible! Huge thanks to organiser, Mike Rothwell (pictured with Anna Webster)

Also this week, supporter Toni Riddick has officially launched the ‘Breast Of Britain’ calendar, now on sale at both our Slynedales & Lakes Centre for just £8.00, with all proceeds to CancerCare! Helen and Anna will be attending a special ‘Afternoon Tea’ fundraising event this weekend to promote the amazing calendar and raise even more funds with tickets, games and a raffle.

Sunday will see the Lancaster Race Series Morecambe 5K raising funds for CancerCare and Galloway’s Society for the Blind – Limited entries are available on the day http://www.lancaster-race-series.co.uk/5km-races/morecambe-5km/

Over in Barrow, this weekend, Rachel Minshull is hosting a Saturday night Gin Tasting Evening at Barrow Golf Club! At time of writing, the event had nearly sold out, so get in touch with Rachel sharpish if you want to bag the last few tickets! Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. There’s been plenty of activity in the fundraising office too, as entries for our Santa Dash & Festive 5k start to pour in! Make sure you secure your place in this much-loved CancerCare event. https://www.cancercare.org.uk/get-involved/events/santa-dash-3

Plus, we’ve had a visit from the Children In Need team, who providing us with funding for the development of our specialist services for Teenagers affected by cancer or bereavement. The funders were very impressed with the amazing work being done by the young people in our ‘Re-Fresh’ group; designing the peer support services that they want and need. Take a look at the update to read more about another project we are working to fund in partnership with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

Great news also from ASDA Kendal that we have been shortlisted as one of the ‘Green Token’ charities. Please pop in and vote for CancerCare to receive a donation of up to £500! Look out for us in Tesco stores soon as well – we’ve been notified this week that we’ve been shortlisted to appear in their ‘Blue Token’ votes throughout November-December in Carnforth, Heysham & Lancaster.

And finally… a plea from the Fundraising Team. We urgently need raffle & tombola prizes for all of our upcoming Winter & Christmas fundraising events. If you can help, please drop off any donations with the Fundraising Team.
We will gratefully accept: bottles of wine/spirits, toiletries, chocolates, biscuits, novelty items, candles, soft toys or any unwanted gifts.

Thank you so much for your continued support of CancerCare – together, we can make a real difference in the lives of local people affected by cancer and other life limiting conditions!

Kindest regards,

Anna
