CancerCare is a unique independent charity dedicated to helping people affected by cancer and other potentially life limiting conditions living in North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Delivered by qualified and experienced staff, CancerCare’s wide range of free professional therapy services are designed to help individuals and their families come to terms with and manage the challenges of a serious health condition and include counselling, hypnotherapy, Alexander Technique, aromatherapy massage, group Activities, support groups and a dedicated service for children and young people.
With 35 years of experience, CancerCare has worked with and helped more than 30,000 local people affected by cancer and other life limiting conditions.
CancerCare began life in 1983 as a small volunteer led telephone helpline service based in an office within the Royal Lancaster Infirmary offering support to local cancer patients and their families in an informal, relaxed manner, away from the pressures of the medical arena.
CancerCare now has three dedicated Kendal (The Lakes Centre, Blackhall Road), Lancaster (Slynedales, Slyne Road and a brand new centre will be opening on Duke Street in winter 2019). CancerCare also provides outreach services in local hospitals.
