Volunteers
CancerCare’s team of committed and dedicated volunteers are integral to the success of the organisation. They are involved throughout CancerCare and offer their time as drivers, receptionists, gardeners, DIY specialists, charity shop workers, events organisers and activists, collectors and in various specialist areas, including our Board of Trustees. Applications from anyone wishing to offer their services, on a regular or occasional basis, are always welcome.
The outstanding contribution of our volunteers was formally recognised when, in 2003, CancerCare received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award for voluntary service by groups in the community.
How to Volunteer
Applications to volunteer are always welcome at CancerCare and the process is very simple.
Just contact us by phone or email, or even call in at Slynedales or the Lakes Centre, and let us know what you would like to do to help. Iona Price, our Volunteer Co-ordinator, will then get in touch and provide you with a simple form to complete prior to a brief chat to help us understand the best way to use your kind offer. That's it!
If you would like to complete the form before you volunteer, or if you would simply like to know what it asks, then please download it here:
Requirements
People who volunteer are the happiest people around, so if you want to join this happy band of people all you need is to be over 18 years old and be able to give a few hours a week, a fortnight or even occasionally.
We welcome people with a whole range of skills and abilities and we always offer training for anything we ask a volunteer to do.
If you would like to join us please don’t hesitate to ring Iona Price on 01524 381820 or 01539 735800
