The main role of the NHS is to deliver medical treatments and services to cancer patients either in hospitals or the community.

Most local hospital services, including chemotherapy, are managed by the Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust (MBHT) and community services, including GPs and District Nurses, are managed by North Lancashire Primary Care Trust and Cumbria Primary Care Trust. Radiotherapy is normally delivered in the Rosemere Centre at Royal Preston Hospital
