CancerCare's Cross Bay Challenge Half Marathon takes a break in 2017
The local cancer support charity have decided to review their popular annual fundraiser this year to work on making the event bigger and better.
Over the past 11 years, CancerCare's Cross Bay Challenge Half Marathon has attracted runners from across the UK to compete in the one of a kind race across the tidal sands of Morecambe Bay in Lancashire.
The main aim of the event has always been to raise vital funds to ensure that families coming to terms with cancer and other life limiting conditions in North Lancashire and South Lakeland, can access professional support, free of charge, when they need it most.
Due to the unique nature of the event, and, as a small local charity with limited resources, CancerCare has taken the decision to review the whole event to explore ways of making it bigger and better for 2018 whilst still achieving its ultimate goal; to raise as much funds as possible.
Christine Wardle, Head of Income Generation at CancerCare says;
"We’d like to thank everyone who has played a part in the event’s success over the years, and we look forward to welcoming you back in summer 2018. In the meantime, we have lots of exciting events to get involved with this year including a Cross Bay Challenge Walk led by Queen’s Guide to the Sands, Cedric Robinson MBE on Sunday 4th June 2017. There is also a Badass Mucker Half Marathon, 10K and 5k next month, the legendary Keswick 2 Barrow event in May, and a Triathlon event in September. We would love you to join us!"
Are you a regular runner at the Cross Bay Challenge Half Marathon? Will you be able to fill the slot with something else and come back to this one next year? We’d love to hear your feedback. The first 5 responses will win a voucher from Pete Bland Sports.
