Group Activities Programmes
CancerCare run a number of group activities throughout the year including Singing, Art, Crafts, Jewellery and Woodwork, led by experienced and qualified tutors.
Activities run from both our centres on different days of the week and are open to anyone affected by cancer & life limiting conditions - including relatives and carers! Come along and learn new skills and meet new people.
Our weekly Singing Group meet every Wednesday at the Kendal Lakes Centre from 5.30pm-7pm. The group is led by national voice teacher David Burbidge. No singing or musical experience is neccesary! The group is free to join with a suggested donation of £2 per week. No booking is necessary so just turn up on the night.
A relaxing way to be creative using a range of materials including paints, inks, pastels and acrylics. Whether you have a natural aptitude or just an interest, art is a wonderful and absorbing pastime that can be very restorative.
Our craft group offers the chance to work and experiment with a wide range of materials including paper, textiles and other media. Working with your hands is a rewarding and pleasurable pastime during which you are free to push your creative boundaries within a supportive and relaxed group.
As with all our groups, people of all ages are very welcome in our jewellery and metalwork group and no previous experience is necessary. Learn the techniques and develop the skills to make beautiful silver jewellery in a supportive and caring environment.
The woodwork group welcomes anyone with an interest in the craft and no particular level of skill or expertise or experience is required to join. Using a range of traditional and modern tools, you are free to create almost anything in wood with advice and guidance from experienced tutors. The environment is informal and the workshop free from pressure or expectation.
