Join Team CancerCare for our Cross Bay Challenge Walk from Arnside to Kents Bank on Sunday 4th June, led by Queen's Guide of the sands Cedric Robinson M.B.E. 

Get ready to take on a unique adventure across the shifting sands of the UK’s largest tidal bay, set against the stunning backdrop of the Lake District fells and help raise funds to support local families affected by cancer.

We recommend parking at Kents Bank and getting the 12.41 train over to Arnside before registration.  Registration will open at 1pm (the train should arrive at 12.50)

Look out for our stewards at the station who will direct you but, if you miss us, make your way down the promenade to opposite The Albion pub and we’ll be there ready to welcome you.

Start: Arnside Promenade , LA5 0AH    Finish: Kents Bank Railway Station, LA11 7BG

Age registrations:  Children under 6 cannot take part

Distance: Approximately 8.5 miles (3-4 hours)

Capacity: 200 places (max.)

Terms & Conditions of Entry


Your entry fee covers your place in the event and is non-refundable and non-transferrable. If you are unable to take part, please let us know as soon as possible.


All participants must register to take part by completing a registration form. All entries will be processed in the order we receive them.

Where possible, walkers should pre-register. However, where there are places available, walkers may register on the day, but the organisers and Cedric Robinson reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone arriving late.

Event registration and safety briefing times are in the Event Information Packs.

Places are limited. If you want to walk with friends, you must secure your places by registering together.


It is your responsibility to arrive at the start point in plenty of time to register on site and attend the safety briefing before leaving the foreshore. The organisers reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone who has not registered on the day or attended the safety briefing.


It is your responsibility to make sure you are fit to complete the Cross Bay Walk. If you are in any doubt, please consult your GP.


Children under 16, with a minimum age of 6, may take part in the Cross Bay Walk but MUST be accompanied by a participating adult. (In accordance with OFSTED Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements, under 8s 1 adult to 8 children or under 16s 1 adult to 30 children).


By registering for this event you agree that any photographs taken may be used for promotional purposes by CancerCare.


Dogs are allowed on the Walk at the participants’ own risk and MUST be kept on a lead at all times. Participants MUST clean up after their dogs and MUST be able to carry their dogs if the depth of the channels require it.
