About CancerCare
CancerCare is a local charity dedicated to the support of people with cancer, their families and their carers, and those bereaved by cancer.
CancerCare's services are available to anyone in North Lancashire and South Lakeland, and have been developed in response to the expressed needs of those whose lives are affected by cancer.
Each year CancerCare supports over 1500 people - patients, families and carers - at its two main centres at Slynedales, Lancaster and the Lakes Centre, Kendal. In addition to our therapeutic support we offer information and advice together with practical services. We also facilitate Friendship Groups throughout the area.
CancerCare is governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from the local community and with a range of appropriate knowledge and experience. Our Life President is Professor Malcolm McIllmurray, a Consultant Oncologist who founded CancerCare, and the Chairman is Robert Webb. The Trustees are supported and informed by CancerCare’s own staff, local Clinical Nurse Specialists, GPs, other professionals, volunteers and clients.
Our services are provided by our team of professional therapists, managed and supported by our management and administrative staff, and a large team of volunteers.
All CancerCare's services are provided free of charge. To find out more about CancerCare as an organisation and how we may be able to help you, or how you may be able to help us, please contact us.
