The second annual StarWalk took place on Saturday 10th May at Midnight and 1,000 ladies walked 15km (9.3 miles) to raise funds for CancerCare, your local cancer support service. This event is just one of many events to highlight CancerCare's Silver Jubilee Appeal.

Facing cancer, whether as patient, carer or member of the family, is almost always a life-changing experience. CancerCare aims to work with people as they come to terms with and manage these changes, in particular by providing relevant information and emotional, social and psychological support
Each year CancerCare supports over 1500 people - patients, families and carers - at its two main centres at Slynedales, Lancaster and the Lakes Centre, Kendal.
In addition, we support numerous people at our Friendship Groups around the area, with information and advice and with other practical services.
The CancerCare Lottery is one of our most important regular sources of income. It has been created to help us raise much-needed funds to pay for support of local people coping with cancer.

The race crosses Morecambe Bay from Flookburgh in Cumbria to Hest Bank, Lancashire taking in the breathtaking scenery of Morecambe Bay and the South Lakes. CancerCare’s team of committed and dedicated volunteers are integral to the success of the organisation.
They are involved throughout CancerCare and offer their time as drivers, receptionists, gardeners, DIY specialists, charity shop workers, events organisers and activists, collectors and in various specialist areas, including our Board of Trustees.
